Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery can help…

One of the most innovative trends in spine surgery in the last 10 years, minimally invasive spine surgery involves surgical treatment of spinal conditions with less soft tissue disruption, shorter hospitalizations and faster recovery. It involves specialized access to the spine, training and instrumentation.

The technique is akin to "building a ship in a bottle" and is not performed by all spine surgeons. Dr. Manos brings 10 years of clinical experience and expertise in these techniques to the Spine Institute of Idaho.

MIS: Patient Benefits:

Even patients who are elderly, obese, or have complex spinal problem, such as deformity, previous spinal surgery, or trauma may also benefit from MIS surgery. A few of the benefits may include:

*  Less muscle and soft tissue disruption
*  Decreased risk of postoperative infection
*  Some procedures can be performed as outpatient surgery
*  Reduced blood loss
*  Reduced post operative pain and medication use
*  Reduced hospital stay
*  Cosmetically appealing incisions
*  Quicker return to normal acitvity

MIS Conditions Treated:

MIS procedures and techniques are safe and effective for treating many different spinal disorders. The following spinal problems are routinely treated using MIS:

*  Herniated Discs
*  Degenerative Disc Disease
*  Scoliosis
*  Spinal Stenosis
*  Spondylolisthesis

Minimally invasive surgery is "the wave of the future" for many spinal procedures and will continue to develop as new techniques and instrumentation continue to evolve. However, not every patient is a candidate for minimally invasive spinal surgery. To see if you are a candidate for this type of surgery please schedule an evaluation by calling:
